I have been working towards getting this blog up in the last month so that I can start to post comic strip series I’ve been working on which will be submitted for print or collected for print.

The newest feature is Pug ‘N’ Pug. I realize the world of cartooning doesn’t need yet another dog strip but this one is based on me and my pug Cricket who passed away in 2008. I plan to use gags from my real life, even though situations will be exaggerated.

You will not, however, see my wife’s face as she has made it clear that I will be killed in my sleep if I draw a caricature of her. Therefore I changed her name and her face will either be in the shadows or her hair will cover her.

Mutant Energy is another feature I’m experimenting with. As any visitor to the site knows, I love energy drinks. This strip tells the story of one energy drink striving to be the ultimate energy drink–unfortunately, he’s really just a knock off.

Lastly, I will be drawing The Cynic again. You can still read the old archives at www.the-cynic.com . I’m doing my best to collect the rest of The Cynic strips into print and there will be newer collections with unpublished material.

These comic strip series aren’t exactly for kids but they’re no worse than what you see on cable TV–Well, maybe The Cynic would be paid cable TV like a Showtime or HBO series, it does have the tendency to push some boundaries at times. I will be saving new Cynic material stories that I can’t publish on this site into uncensored print collections anyhow.

The overall idea with these comic strips is to update the blog a couple of times a week like a TV schedule and just let you read and then go play a game or some other activity on Swenson Funnies. I want to keep you readers around so feel free to make suggestions.

Before we started the blog, several comics were posted on Swenson Funnies in the old format. If you’re looking for more funnies to amuse you then here is a list.

THE CYNIC - All listings of The Cynic comic strips on Swenson Funnies here.  Also note that previously The Cynic comic strip had its own site and archives when it was being done as a daily. I am not sure of the future of that site since I’m planning to collect the rest of those dailies into a second book, but feel free to read them for now. Warning, the archives do contain material aimed at grown-ups, or rather immature grown-ups.

FRENETIC FUNNIES - The weekly cartoon is being archived on the regular Swenson Funnies Blog. And you can also find weeklies archived at the homesite. In addition there are some collections on SF here.

WIDESCREEN EXCLUSIVES AND SPECIAL COMIC STRIPS - These are original comics done just for Swenson Funnies. If you find them elsewhere they were snagged. Not that I mind bloggers showing off a couple of toons now and then, but I’d rather you come to my site for the exclusives. These comics can be found if you go through the main archives listings. Some of my favorites are The Piercing and Office Brainstorming. 

SCREENSHOTZ - These were inspired by Cracked Magazine. I used to read the photo funnies in that Mad Magazine clone when I was a kid. So I created my own series of screenshot funnies from movie trailers. I haven’t done any recently but you’ll recognized the previous ones I did. I think the most popular ones involve Nacho Libre. God, that’s a great film.

So check those out if you haven’t read comics on Swenson Funnies before. I’ll continue to work on loading up this comics blog. I’m hoping to even have some guest cartoonists come on board to show off their humor.
