COMPANY: Rockstar, Inc, Las Vegas, NV
CAN DESIGN: The Rockstar can design reminds you of a bad T-shirt from the seventies; the kind that featured The Bay City Rollers or Farrah Fawcett. This is not to say it's a bad design, it's just the image they want to convey. The logo and text is easily read when on the shelf and the name itself is smart compared to the competition. The whole concept is to make you feel like you're part of the in-crowd. But reality check, if you can't send out a hired man to get you your Rockstar Drink and you end up buying it yourself at Seven-Eleven--"hint," you're no rock star.
CAN DETAILS: 16 FL OZ, 10 Calories
PRICE: Bought it as part of a 3 for 4.98 deal at Safeway. My guess would be that it sells for 1.99 to 2.29 regularly.
WEBSITE: Rockstar69.com . Hmm, where did the "69" come from? Once I plugged the URL in I got blasted with Alice In Chains. The site has the rock theme of course and I would expect nothing less. The site doesn't have any downloads but they do have photo galleries of Rockstar parties. Nothing particularly great because it only reminds you that you weren't invited. They also sponsor several events from concerts to sporting get-togethers. A little on the weak side for such a drink that is up there in the competition. The could improve the site by maybe offering a music download of the week or some hot rockstar babe wallpaper, etc.
TASTE: The taste is good. It doesn't take me by surprise but it doesn't disappoint either. And I believe I can recognize that it is sugarfree. There's something about sugarfree energy drinks that always feels like a little bit of the taste is missing. However, it's not enough to complain about. It used to be that diet and sugarfree soda drinks tasted awful. We take it for granted that they taste as good as they do now.
AFTERTASTE: Nothing distinct.
SUSTAINED EFFECTS: I felt thinner.
OVERALL: A solid taste, a great name, a great image. The site needs improvement.
WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN? Not my first choice, but yes.
GENERAL COMMENTS: Sponsoring events is good, but give something back to the web surfers who can't attend.
