PUNISHER WARZONE 2008

Holy shit, this looks like it may actually be true to the comic book series. The Punisher is the most violent mainstream comic out there. I remember starting to read it in Highschool when Marvel gave this anti-hero his own series.
Twice they’ve failed to make a theatrical version work. The first was a cheapie B-movie with Dolph Lundgren and the second was with Thomas Jane. Dolph Lundgren felt cliche in the role, like we had seen the movie a dozen times before with the silent hero blowing people away. Thomas Jane was much better but unfortunately I think John Travolta was a poor choice for the villain. John Travolta is just not threatening as a villain, his voice is too high and whiny.
This time around with Ray Stevenson in the lead role the whole thing might work. There are a lot of Punisher fans out there, including myself, who hope so. I liked Ray Stevenson in Rome, didn’t even expect him to turn up in this role. He’s a big, bad ass dude–we might just have a winner here.
